Air fryer chicken fajitas are juicy, colorful, and easy to make in one basket. With sliced chicken, peppers, and onions cooked at high heat, this quick 15-minute recipe is perfect for tortillas, rice bowls, or an easy weeknight dinner.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 14–16 minutes
Total Time: 25–26 minutes
Servings: 4
1½ pounds boneless skinless chicken breast, sliced into thin strips
3 bell peppers, sliced
1 large yellow onion, sliced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1 lime, for serving
Warm tortillas, for serving
1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
2. Slice the chicken, peppers, and onion into thin even strips.
3. Add the chicken, peppers, and onion to a large bowl.
4. Drizzle with olive oil, then add chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Toss well to coat everything evenly.
5. Transfer the mixture to the air fryer basket in an even layer.
6. Air fry for 7 minutes, shake or toss well, then cook for 7–9 more minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are tender with lightly charred edges.
7. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the fajitas and serve warm with tortillas.
Slice the chicken and vegetables evenly so they cook at the same rate.
Do not overcrowd the basket. Cook in 2 batches if needed for better browning.
Chicken thighs can be used instead of chicken breast for a juicier result.
Warm the tortillas before serving for the best texture.
Use boneless skinless chicken thighs instead of chicken breast.
Add sliced mushrooms for a heartier fajita mix.
Add a pinch of cayenne or sliced jalapeños for extra heat.
