Crispy air fryer edamame with blistered pods, flaky salt, and garlic-chili seasoning — a quick 10-minute snack or appetizer.
Servings: 4
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
1 pound frozen edamame in pods
1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon chili flakes or chili powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Flaky sea salt, for finishing
Lime wedges, for serving
1. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F. Pat the frozen edamame dry with paper towels to remove extra ice or moisture.
2. Toss the edamame with oil, garlic powder, chili flakes, and kosher salt until evenly coated.
3. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the pods are hot, lightly blistered, and slightly browned in spots.
4. Finish with flaky sea salt and a squeeze of lime. Serve warm and squeeze the beans out of the pods to eat.
Do not overcrowd the basket. A single layer gives the edamame better blistering and less steaming.
Patting the pods dry helps them turn lightly crispy instead of wet or soggy.
Edamame pods are not meant to be eaten whole. Squeeze or bite the beans out of the pods and discard the shells.
Garlic Lime Edamame: Add extra garlic powder and finish with fresh lime juice.
Spicy Chili Edamame: Add more chili flakes or a pinch of cayenne before air frying.
Sesame Edamame: Finish with toasted sesame seeds and a small drizzle of sesame oil after cooking.
