Crispy air fryer French fries with golden edges and fluffy centers, made with an easy homemade method.
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 18–22 minutes
Total Time: 33–37 minutes
Servings: 4
2 large russet potatoes
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon chopped parsley, optional
1. Peel the potatoes if desired, then cut them into medium fries.
2. Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for 20–30 minutes, then drain well.
3. Pat the fries completely dry with paper towels.
4. Toss the fries with olive oil, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until evenly coated.
5. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F. Arrange the fries in a single layer without overcrowding.
6. Air fry for 18–22 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden and crispy.
7. Sprinkle with parsley if using, and serve hot.
Dry the potatoes very well after soaking, or they will steam instead of crisp.
Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches for the best texture.
Shake halfway through so the fries brown more evenly.
Add a little extra salt right after cooking if you want a stronger fry-style flavor.
Make them garlic parmesan by adding grated parmesan and extra garlic powder after cooking.
Make them spicy with cayenne pepper or Cajun seasoning.
Make them herby with Italian seasoning and extra parsley.
