Crispy toasted bread, melted cheddar, and juicy hot dogs turn into an easy air fryer grilled cheese dinner hack for busy weeknights.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 6–8 minutes
Total Time: 16–18 minutes
Servings: 4
4 hot dogs
4 slices sandwich bread, crusts trimmed if desired
4 slices cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons butter, softened
½ teaspoon garlic powder, optional
¼ teaspoon paprika, optional
Ketchup or mustard, for serving
1. Flatten each slice of sandwich bread slightly with your hands or a rolling pin.
2. Place one slice of cheddar cheese on each piece of bread, then add one hot dog near the edge.
3. Roll the bread tightly around the hot dog and press the seam gently to help it stay closed.
4. Mix softened butter with garlic powder and paprika, then brush the outside of each roll-up.
5. Place the roll-ups seam-side down in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
6. Air fry at 370°F for 6–8 minutes, flipping once halfway through, until the bread is golden, crisp, and the cheese is melted.
Use soft sandwich bread so the roll-ups do not crack when rolling.
Place the seam-side down first to help the bread seal while it crisps.
Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket, or the bread may toast unevenly.
For extra crispy edges, air fry 1 extra minute after flipping.
Bacon Grilled Cheese Hot Dogs: Wrap each hot dog with cooked bacon before rolling it in the bread.
Spicy Cheddar Hot Dogs: Add a thin layer of jalapeños or spicy mustard before rolling.
Pizza-Style Hot Dogs: Add a little mozzarella and serve with warm marinara for dipping.
