Toasted buns, melty mozzarella, pizza sauce, pepperoni, and juicy hot dogs turn into a fast air fryer pizza dogs dinner for busy weeknights.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 6–8 minutes
Total Time: 16–18 minutes
Servings: 4
4 hot dogs
4 hot dog buns
1/2 cup pizza sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
16–20 mini pepperoni slices
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon melted butter, optional
1 tablespoon chopped parsley, optional for serving
1. Preheat the air fryer to 370°F.
2. Place each hot dog inside a bun and brush the outside of the buns lightly with melted butter, if using.
3. Spoon pizza sauce over each hot dog.
4. Add mozzarella cheese, mini pepperoni, and a small pinch of Italian seasoning.
5. Place the pizza dogs in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
6. Air fry for 6–8 minutes, until the cheese is melted, the pepperoni is crisp, and the buns are lightly toasted.
7. Let cool for 1–2 minutes before serving.
Do not overfill with sauce, or the buns may turn soggy.
Use mini pepperoni so the topping fits better on the hot dog buns.
Check at 6 minutes because air fryer models brown differently.
For extra crispy buns, air fry the buns with hot dogs for 2 minutes before adding sauce and cheese.
Cheesy Pizza Dogs: Add extra mozzarella or a little cheddar for a cheesier version.
Spicy Pizza Dogs: Add crushed red pepper, jalapeños, or spicy pepperoni.
Meat Lover’s Pizza Dogs: Add cooked bacon bits or crumbled sausage.
Kid-Friendly Pizza Dogs: Use mild sauce, extra cheese, and fewer pepperoni slices.
