Notes / Tips

  • The 10-minute freezer hack helps the feta stay firm and keeps the pieces from softening too quickly.

  • Drying the feta well is important for a better crust.

  • Do not overcrowd the basket, or the feta may soften instead of crisping properly.

  • Use block feta, not crumbled feta, for the best texture and shape.

  • A light coating works better than a heavy coating here. Too much breading can hide the feta texture.

  • Let the cooked feta rest briefly before moving it so it stays intact more easily.

Variations

  • Drizzle with hot honey before serving for a sweet-spicy finish.

  • Add a little smoked paprika to the coating for a warmer flavor.

  • Serve with marinara for an appetizer-style dip.

  • Add lemon zest after cooking for a brighter finish.

  • Use Italian seasoning instead of oregano for a slightly different herb profile.

  • Serve over a salad bowl or grain bowl for a more filling meal.
