Prep Time: 3 minutes
Cook Time: 5–6 minutes
Total Time: 8–9 minutes
Yield: 2 sandwiches / 4 triangles
4 slices soft sandwich bread
4 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
2–3 tablespoons berry jam or jelly
1–2 tablespoons softened butter for the outside of the bread
1. Spread peanut butter on 2 slices of bread and jam or jelly on the other 2 slices.
2. Close the sandwiches and lightly butter the outside of each slice.
3. Preheat the air fryer to 370°F if your model needs preheating.
4. Place the sandwiches in the basket in a single layer.
5. Air fry at 370°F for 5–6 minutes, flipping halfway through, until both sides are golden and crisp.
6. Let the sandwiches rest for 1 minute, then cut diagonally and serve warm.
Do not overfill the sandwiches or the jam may leak too much during cooking.
Butter the bread lightly so the outside turns crisp, not greasy.
Do not overcrowd the basket or the bread may turn soft instead of crisp.
Cook time may vary slightly depending on bread thickness and air fryer model.
Use strawberry, grape, raspberry, or mixed berry jam.
Swap peanut butter for almond butter or sunflower seed butter.
Add a few thin banana slices for a sweeter PB&J version.
Dust lightly with powdered sugar after cooking for a dessert-style finish.
