Servings: 4
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10–12 minutes
Total Time: 20–22 minutes
1½ pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-size pieces
2 large eggs
¾ cup cornstarch
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
Olive oil spray
⅓ cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon grated ginger
Sesame seeds, for garnish
Sliced green onions, for garnish
1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F and spray the basket lightly with oil.
2. Whisk the eggs in one bowl. Add cornstarch, salt, and black pepper to another bowl.
3. Dip the chicken in egg, then coat in the cornstarch mixture.
4. Arrange in a single layer in the basket and spray lightly with oil.
5. Air fry for 5–6 minutes, flip, spray again lightly, and cook for 5–6 more minutes until crisp and cooked through.
6. Meanwhile, simmer soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, garlic, and ginger for 2–3 minutes.
7. Toss the hot chicken with the sauce, then garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
Do not overcrowd the basket, or the chicken will not crisp well.
Spray lightly with oil for a more golden crust.
Toss with the sauce only at the end to keep the chicken crispy.
Chicken thighs stay juicier, but chicken breast works too.
Use chicken breast for a leaner version.
Add broccoli for an easy full meal.
Make it spicy with chili flakes or sriracha.
Serve with cauliflower rice for a lighter option.
Turn it into bite-size pieces for an appetizer.
